Charity Pick Up Services

Using Charity Pick Up to Donate Cars

Donating a vehicle to charity is an excellent way to give back to your community, and it can be even more effective than simply donating money. If you have an old car collecting dust in a garage that could be put to use by someone else, then you should consider donating it to charity. Many charities will accept any type of vehicle, and quite a few of them offer pick up, so you do not have to leave the comfort of your own home to do a good deed. Even if you’re capable of transporting the vehicle to the organization yourself, most charities will have some form of charity pick-up service.

Commonly Donated Vehicles

Cars

Different charities prefer to receive different vehicles, but there are wide ranges of automobiles that are accepted by most charities. Cars are by far the most common donation, and almost every charity has a program that accepts clunkers. If you have an old car that no longer runs, you can still call for a pick up to donate your vehicle. Non-functioning vehicles are usually processed and accepted separately from regular cars, but many charities will accept cars in any condition. Whether your vehicle is in pristine condition, or your vehicle hasn’t worked in many years, it’s a good idea to get in contact with the organization and ask for a charity pick up.

RVs

Often times, donations are made because the person simply doesn’t have enough room to store the vehicle, or they’re unable to use them anymore. This is often the case with donated trailers and RVs. Many charities accept RV donations, and offer pick up because it can be hard for the owners to have such a large vehicle towed. Other big vehicles like boats and buses are often donated to charity and require pick up, so most organizations are accustomed to transporting and storing things that are as big as, or bigger than, RVs.

Vans

Many charities prefer to focus on a single type of donation, but the majority of them will accept any vehicle. Many vehicle-specific charities like to focus on vans and trucks that can be used by small businesses. If you were formerly employed in the construction industry, or have an old pick-up truck you once used as a daily driver, you should consider contacting a local charity group and donating the vehicle. Functioning vans and trucks are especially appreciated, but vehicles in any condition are welcome and can be transported by a charity pick up service.

Requesting Charity Pick Up

Whether you’re donating cars, trucks, vans, or RVs, it’s always a good idea to call ahead and ask if the charity is able to come and pick up your donation. A charity pick up is great for when you’re trying to donate a large vehicle, but don’t have the means to safely transport it to the organization’s donation center. Many times, the organization will actually prefer to come and pick up the vehicle. That way, they can contact a professional towing company and have the car safely brought to their location.
